After watching Akira do cool tricks on his motorcycle, Leandro turns to an awestruck bystander and says “thats my boyfriend”. Whenever either of them does something cool the other points to them and tells the nearest person “that’s my boyfriend”. When Akira is stressed, Leandro spars with him until they’re both tired and Akira isn’t thinking about it anymore. Relieves stress by going in the flight simulator for hours at a time. He always makes A’s even when he doesn’t do his homework. James is either “guys we have to study” or “fuck school lets go out”. Serious during school and playful with his friends. Plays chess with Ina even though he loses most of the time. First found out he wasn’t straight when that emo kid beat him in the pilot simulator. Has been friends with Ryan, Nadia,and Ina since they were accepted into the Garrison. He lowkey hates the military because the military wouldn’t pay for his dad’s prosthetic leg and his family can’t afford it. 
James’ dad told James stories about fighter jets and planes and that’s how James got interested in them. His dad is an amputee because he was fatally shot in the leg during his second tour. As a kid, James had several plane toys and his mom even bought him a rug that had a runway on it to make the takeoffs more realistic. James played baseball during the day and would research planes and jets at night in his space themed room. Sits at the front of the class and tries to answer every question.
